In an instant
like fingers snapping,
I’m sandwiched in metal
and bent in ways I do not.
When I regain my vision,
it all goes black,
and throbs into light,
and back to black,
then back and forth,
slowly,
and decreases.
A certain peace
to the numbness
that encapsulates
the full of my sense
consoles me.
Until the pain registers.
Until I’m unconscious.
