More expansive than the andes.
The weight of you stolen
by the hamza river.
Dump out your greatness
into saltwater.
Hardy in the brackish water-
my life on your delta.
Skimming sediments,
remarking nuggets.
As I wait for your rain
to come clean my hands.
As I sit in my toil,
chuck clams and boil crawfish.
Dreaming of pearls.
As if you’re not scaling peaks
of the mid ocean ridge,
abridging continents,
looking up at yellow water.
As if the sun escaped again.
